Eyes... a doorway to the soul...

As a woman I am often contemplating the special qualities that we poses and have to offer the world. I realize each of us are unique and have different things to offer, but there are some common and essential attributes as well.

Love, compassion, beauty, sensuality, fertility, life, children, creativity, kindness and a gentle heart are just a few...

The older I get, the more I realize how simple yet sacred these things are to life, to our purpose... Worthy of celebration...

This is where my painting started...

In the beginning, there was a palette, some paint and some brushes...

I started with a pelvis, representing the support for life... and then decided it needed to be filled with an orchid blossom, not only as new life but also sensuality.

 

Hands holding seeds... new ideas, new life, hope...

the heart full of love and compassion...

I wanted this painting to represent my gifts as a woman and an artist... The ocean has always drawn me to it... Being so powerful, deep and ever changing, it reminds me of the human heart.

I see it as a work in progress, but for now I'm at a stopping point...I may add some birds in the background or possibly an image of the sands of time in her hand...not sure...Any ideas are welcome!
