The Invisible Bridge by Julie Orringer

I just finished this book and I absolutely loved it.

For her first novel, it is amazing. The author Julie Orringer is an amazing writer. Her characters are full of life and beautifully developed. The story takes place in many places, but mostly Hungary and France from the late 30's to the mid 40's. There is some intense, horrific and sad parts of the book, but it's obvious she knows her subject well and creates an in depth poetic world of family, art, culture, food and struggle.

I can't even begin to describe the beautiful story she has written but I couldn't set it down until I was finished. This was one of those books that keeps you up till midnight reading and you can't wait to wake up to start it again.

An Etsy Treasury featurying Calla Lily and Tree Frog painting.

Here is Calla Lilies and Tree Frog featured in an Etsy treasury.

I love treasuries, they are a great way to put together a collage of other artists work.

Transition

TRANSITION...
A passage from one state, stage, subject or place to another.

This was a skull found from a friend of mine.  It is an amazing and beautiful find. I hope to incorporate it into one of my paintings one day. I've added a complimentary color palette.

Essence

ESSENCE...

The individual, real or ultimate nature of a thing...

I love flowers. I especially love looking inside them at the delicate colors and shapes. Isn't it amazing how many different flowers their are in the world!

This is a specimen from my garden called a hellebore.
